The Resource Sharing Supervisor is a vital leader within the Access Services team, responsible for directing all resource sharing services, including lending, borrowing, and document delivery. This role oversees staff and student employees, ensuring efficient and timely operations through effective management and strategic workflow optimization. A key part of this position is to drive innovation and best practices by leveraging data analysis and collaborating with peers.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a minimum of three years in a supervisory role who excels at mentoring staff and driving innovation. They possess a strong background in resource sharing, including expertise with platforms like ILLiad and Worldshare, and a proven ability to optimize workflows through data analysis to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of materials.
Workplace Requirements
On-campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in person at Fondren Library. Working hours will be 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, and the proposed salary range is $60,813 to $69,900 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
o In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis
3+ years of experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity, including proven expertise in resource sharing, interlibrary loan, and related workflows, along with the ability to manage and mentor staff
o In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis
Skills:
Proficient in using online library automation systems and conducting effective online research
Experienced in resource sharing, interlibrary loan (borrowing and lending), and related workflows
Skilled in learning, adopting, and training others on emerging technology in a professional environment
Strong background in providing exceptional customer service
Demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to manage and mentor staff
Advanced problem-solving abilities, with a track record of analyzing issues and implementing effective solutions
Proven team leadership skills, fostering collaboration and a positive work environment
Preferences
Master of Library Science or its equivalent (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program
2 years of experience working with resource sharing platforms such as ILLiad and WorldShare
Alma/Primo experience
Essential Functions
Oversees the work of staff and student assistants involved in resource sharing, including coordinating workflows and project management
Manages daily workflow of resource sharing requests, ensuring timely processing and delivery of materials
Ensures compliance with relevant consortium policies and copyright laws
Conducts data analysis and ensures accurate recordkeeping of IFM transactions, WorldShare statistics, and others as assigned
Excellent team player, maintaining the highest degree of communication and collaboration with other library staff, resource sharing partners, patrons, and external vendors
Assists users with basic research needs related to resource sharing
Stays current on trends and best practices related to resource sharing, accessibility, and scholarly communication
Provides backup support for other library functions as needed
